For the 2020 ACA conference, the JMCD editorial board is initiating a new program to assist AMCD members who are practitioners, advanced doctoral students, and early career counselor educators in disseminating their scholarship. To that end, we are offering a session at the ACA 2020 conference in San Diego that is intended to allow emerging authors to have a 30-minute 1-on-1 mentoring session with a JMCD Consulting Elder.
To apply to this session, you are to email a manuscript related to an area of multicultural counseling to: jmcdonline.org by 11:59pm (CT) December 15th, 2019. Only manuscripts submitted to this email address before the deadline will be considered. Submitted manuscripts will receive an initial cursory review to ensure the paper meets the following submission guidelines: (1) manuscript is to be submitted by an AMCD member, (2) authors must be a full-time counseling practitioner (not currently enrolled in a graduate program), Year 3 or more doctoral student in counselor education, or untenured counselor educator, (3) author must be registered for the ACA 2020 conference in San Diego, (4) the manuscript focuses an area of multicultural counseling, (5) manuscript follows general JMCD manuscript preparation guidelines, including grammar, construction, APA formatting, length, and biased free language, and (6) submitting AMCD members must be first or sole author of the manuscript.
If accepted to the program, the manuscript will be sent to one of the JMCD Consulting Elders for a comprehensive reading and markup. Notifications regarding acceptance into the program will go out to authors by January 15th, 2020. Notifications regarding authors’ placement slot at the JMCD session at the ACA conference will go out by March 15th, 2020, providing the time, name of Consulting Elder, and confirming the date and location of the session at the ACA conference.
